In 1959, the modern company known as VEGA was founded in Germany. Originally started as a handcraft business, the company soon began producing machined parts, and then eventually moved to producing capacitance probes in their first entry into the process control market.
In 1996 Ohmart introduced the industry's first HART®-compatible nuclear gauge, beginning the movement towards "modernizing" process measurement equipment. The very next year, VEGA introduced the world's first two-wire radar gauge, providing a cost effective way to make use of radar technology. Within 2 years, VEGA was the world leader in radar technology for process measurement. As part of this tremendous success, Ohmart began manufacturing the products in North America under license from VEGA. Shortly thereafter, the official company name was changed to Ohmart/VEGA to reflect the partnership and commitment of Ohmart and VEGA.
The future offers many opportunities for Ohmart/VEGA to continue to find new and innovative ways to provide measurement solutions to the world's industries.
