Hydraulic Oil for Power Plants
Equipment used for moving large masses, such as cranes and lifting platforms, require powerful drive systems. The drilling systems and other heavy machinery are also power operated. Power generating plants take up a lot of space and usually cannot be located near where they are needed. Power is therefore transmitted, almost loss-free, from the power plant to the usage site with the help of hydraulic systems.
The hydraulic oil required for power transmission circulates in a closed system, but there are losses due to greasing and leakage points. To ensure operational safety, every hydraulic system has its own hydraulic oil storage tank, the contents of which have to be continuously monitored.
Level Measurement with the VEGAFLEX 61
The guided wave VEGAFLEX 61 reliably measures the level in the hydraulic oil tank. This measurement technology is not affected by the composition of the oil or process conditions such as pressure and temperature. The cable version probe of the VEGAFLEX 61 is able to be mounted in the most cramped spaces at the top of vessels.
