Moving and Conveying Material
In all aspects of mining there is a need to move material. Whether from the mine or quarry to storage, or within a processing facility, all types of aggregates are moved via a belt or screw conveyor system. Belts are typically used for larger size aggregates, while screw conveyors are generally for smaller particles where dust reduction is an issue. Many types of conveyor measurement devices involve mechanical parts such as springs, pulleys, and gears which are very susceptible to damage from dust, dirt, and clogging. They are also difficult and time consuming to install.
Measurement for Conveyer Belts or Screw Conveyers
The Ohmart/VEGA nuclear weigh scale W4800 is non-contact and unaffected by process conditions such as dust, dirt, and mechanical wear. The scale operates using a low activity radiation source, and a scintillator detector. It fits around the belt or screw and provides reliable measurement of product weight and rate. If used in conjunction with a tachometer, the W4800 can provide real time data for varying speeds of belt or screw conveyors.
Typical applications include measurement of conveying systems for coal, limestone powder, rock, and mineral mining.
