Gravel and grit are required as materials for road construction products, and as materials in concrete production. These materials are stored in large, usually concrete-lined, silos and bunkers. The implemented level measurement technology must meet very tough demands.
VEGAPULS 68 for Level Measurement in Gravel and Grit Silos
Due to the high tractive forces and abrasion, level measurement techniques that contact the product are unsuitable for this job. The non-contact radar sensor VEGAPULS 68 provides an elegant solution. Undisturbed by dust, abrasion, condensate, product moisture and filling noise, the instrument carries out measurement reliably in silos or bunkers up to 230 ft (70 m) high. The parabolic antenna, which is especially advantageous for this application, assures strong microwave focusing and a strong return signal. Struts or vessel obstructions do not cause any problems.
VEGASON 65 for Smaller Silos
VEGASON 65 is also good solution for non-contact measurement of material storage piles. With a measuring range up to 82 ft (25 m), it is the ideal solution for silos with low dust generation and noise. VEGASON 65 is also quite suitable for non-contact
measurement of material heaps.
